Position overview
We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide one-on-one for an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability. Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, shopping, meal prep/cooking, medical appointments and cleaning/house keeping while ensuring safety and accessibility. The ideal candidate is adaptable, observant, and comfortable supporting an individual with their needs.

- Support with meal preparation and cooking
- Assist and help advocate in Medical appointments
- household management and cleaning
Daily Living Skills
- Provide guidance and support with medical appointments
- Encourage independence while offering assistance as needed
- Help establish consistent daily routines
Related Challenges
The individual’s may present unique challenges: empower client to lead a more self-sufficient and fulfilling life.
- Additional guidance may be asked to attend medical appointments to help with advocacy.
- Staff may need to provide orientation support, and assistance, when needed.
Communication & Accessibility
Tasks involving: Identifying and utilizing strategies, tools, and supports that increase accessibility and promote independence

Tasks involving: Ongoing training for client will continue to reinforce skills and promote greater independence.
Ideal Candidate Qualities
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferred
- Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills
- Patient, dependable, and adaptable
- Comfortable providing hands-on support while promoting independence
- Able to work independently.
Work Environment
- One-on-one support in home and community settings
- Clients schedule
- Structured, supportive, and safety-focused role
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, and Cerebral Palsy preferred.
- Patient, dependable, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to provide hands-on assistance as needed
- Two forms of valid identification
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Current TB test clearance
